WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! Here's our plans...
It’s 2021….finally. And another thing. At the very end of 2020, we bought a house. Yes, that’s right. Bought our very own home! Just when I thought 2020 couldn’t get more unreal, we purchased our first home in the craziness of the pandemic, all while going through many firsts with a baby and quitting my full time job. I know this year has been really hard and unexpected, but I am forever grateful for what its given me. First and foremost, my daughter Cha Cha. And of course, this new exciting step of creating our home.
With this new home, creative ideas are brewing in Scott and I’s heads all day. We are constantly watching HGTV, pinning on our ‘organized by room’ boards on Pinterest, and sketching our floorplans. Since we have so much we want to accomplish in this home, I am going to use this blog post as a little “to do” list for the house. Hopefully that will make you want to follow along in the process of our home renos + decor excitement. Patience (especially for me) is VERY key here, because of course, since we just bought a house, renos will take time. We are going to use these next couple months to save for our first projects, which is so fun, motivating, and exciting! We absolutely cannot wait to customize this home and put our own creative touches to it.
Here’s what we want to do, in no particular order. You’ll be able to see our process in future blog posts :) —
Master Bedroom : create accent wall / build bed frame / lighting / nightstands (this accent wall is DONE. See below).
Guest Bath : Paint tiles / cabinetry / marbleize counters (DIY) / replace mirror
Downstairs Bath : Marbleize counters (DIY) / replace mirrors
Kitchen : demo walls + cabinetry / create island / new appliances
Downstairs flooring : Replace all flooring to match + be the same (currently has 4 different flooring types)
Master Bath : Demo 2nd closet to create a bigger space / add bathtub / replace shower / add another sink / build barn door
Woo! That is a LOT now that I’ve typed it all out. And there is even more after that, lower on the list of priorities of course. This list will help me to prioritize what we want to do first, and what we need to save longer for. Hopefully keeping a list and accomplishing things step by step will help motivate us to save and be mindful of where we are spending (especially for me). This home will keep us busy for a lonnnng time and I can’t wait to put in the work on it just so we can appreciate it that much more! Follow along on Instagram stories, future IGTVs, and blog posts to see our progress. I’ll be sure to share some Pinterest fails as well, because we all know there will be plenty :)
Until next time.
xx,
Madi
